Colon cancer has become the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. Yet only 15% of those at risk are adequately screened. Until now, the only way to detect the presence of polyps throughout the entire colon was with a traditional colonoscopy, which requires significant preparation, sedation, and time off from work.
Now Physicians Imaging offers a CT Colonoscopy—a safe, comfortable and non-invasive way of detecting colon cancer and polyps early on. It requires no sedation and is highly accurate in detecting polyps over 10mm in size.
This scan is performed as an outpatient procedure with minimal preparation. There is no risk of perforating the bowels and is a viable solution for candidates who are unable to undergo a traditional colonoscopy. Because there is no sedation, patients can drive themselves to and from the appointment and can return to work within 30 minutes following the exam.
